During the mid 1980’s, downtown Boca Raton was desperately losing businesses and tax base. The anchor tenant in the lone strip center on Federal Highway was a big box discount retailer.
Working with the Downtown CRA, LMG’s principals developed a process to create one of the first Downtown DRI approvals in the State of Florida.
This process opened the door to the local control of smart redevelopment of downtown by a “master approval” of the entire plan at the State level. It further strengthened the feasibility of the CRA’s acquisition and assembly of key parcels in downtown that were later to become Mizner Park.
